Cross Country Sets Three Personal-Record Times At The UIS Prairie Star Invite
SPRINGFIELD, Ill.—The Fontbonne University men’s and women’s cross country teams were back in action tonight at the UIS Prairie Star Invite.
SPRINGFIELD, Ill.—The Fontbonne University men's and women's cross country teams were back in action tonight at the UIS Prairie Star Invite.
On the women's side, the Griffins finished in sixth place with 146 points. Host Illinois-Springfield took home the win with five of its finishers all ending up in the top-10.
Individually, Taryn Christy (Illinois-Springfield), won with a time of 15:40.64 in the 4K. Desiree Brooks led the Griffins with a 24th place finish as she crossed the line with a new personal-record time of 19:24.4. Sarah Rhoads also hit a PR after clocking out at 20:28.4 for 27th place.
Katie Gosser improved off her time last week by 15.0 seconds to finish in 30th at 21:04.5. Colleen Gosser, meanwhile, was the third Griffin to hit a PR at 21:04.6 for 31st. Newcomer Tara Weiskopf-Kuehn rounded out her first race in 34th at 28:35.83.
On the men's side, Illinois-Springfield won with all of its runners claiming the one through five spots. Individually, Tyler Pasley won the overall at 20:41.78.
Fontbonne was paced by Jacob Dixon. The Sullivan, Mo., native was just 15.0 seconds off his previous PR as he ended the race at 24:29.3. Austin Joyce, who was stride-for-stride with Dixon last week, followed up with another impressive race after clocking out at 24:42.1.
The Griffins will take a week off and return to action on Sept. 21st at the Brissman Lundeen Invite.
