Cross Country Concludes Its Season At The NCAA Midwest Regional
COLFAX, Wis.—The Fontbonne University women’s and men’s cross country teams closed out its 2018 season at the NCAA Midwest Regional this afternoon in chilly Wisconsin.
COLFAX, Wis.—The Fontbonne University women's and men's cross country teams closed out its 2018 season at the NCAA Midwest Regional this afternoon in chilly Wisconsin.
On the women's side, WashU won the overall with 58 total points. Wisconsin-Eau Claire ended up in second with 93 points and Wisconsin La Crosse followed in third at 101 points.
Individually, Hannah Roeske (Wheaton), won the overall by 2.0 seconds after fending off Paige Lawler (WashU) for a final time of 21:21.8.
Fontbonne, meanwhile, was led by the performance of Sarah Rhoads. The Sullivan, Mo., native, ran her way to a time of 28:37.6 which was just 11.0 seconds off her personal-record. Desiree Brooks was the next Griffin to cross the line at 29:37.7, while Katie Gosser timed out at 29:44.8.
Emily Bay was the next Griffin to finish at 30:31.9, while Colleen Gosser clocked out at 31:10.0.
On the men's side, North Central claimed the title with 25 total points. Wisconsin-La Crosse finished in second with 69 points.
Individually, Zach Lee (Wis-Platteville), won with an overall time of 24:35.3 and that was just one-tenth of a second faster than Chris Buechner (North Central).
Jacob Dixon paced the Griffins with a time of 30:16.4, which is a new season-best time in 2018 for the sophomore. Austin Joyce ended the day with a time of 32:55.8, while Juwan Lee finished out his day at 39:14.3.
