Men’s XC Picked Second in SLIAC Preseason Coaches’ Poll
ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The Fontbonne University men's cross country team was selected second in the SLIAC, announced the conference office on Tuesday morning.
"We're honored to have earned the second-place preseason rankings, but rankings at this stage are only a reflection of potential," shared Head Coach Phillip Justin Halley. "Our focus will continue to remain on the work that still needs to be done, but we embrace this ranking as a testament to our program's progress."
The Griffins totaled 65 points and one first-place vote.
"We will use this as motivation and are committed to the effort it takes to be a great team. Our coaching staff is excited about the new and returning athletes that have made this program and culture exciting. It is a great day to be a Griffin," he said.
The team returns five athletes and welcome six newcomers.
The Griffins open their season on Saturday, Sept. 2 in the Memphis Twilight Classic hosted by University of Memphis.
