ST. ANN, Mo. – The Fontbonne University softball team took game one of the doubleheader against the Westminster College Blue Jays in their conference opener this afternoon.
The Griffins move to 4-9 overall and 1-1 in conference play.
The Blue Jays move to 5-17 on the season and 1-1 in league play.
Game One
The Griffins defeated Westminster, 3-1
- Ashley Carrow went 2-for-3 and added one RBI.
- Macy Brown hit a triple, drove in one run and scored one run.
- Jillian Mengel recorded one RBI.
- Karmen Daniels recorded one hit and one run.
- Grace Paez had one hit, while Kassidy Crisco scored one run.
- Sam Foppe earned the win in the circle. She pitched a complete game and struck out five while allowing three hits and one run.
Game Two
The Griffins fell to Westminster, 12-4
- Macy Brown, Ashley Carrow and Karmen Daniels each went 2-for-3
- Kassidy Chrisco, Brown and Daniels each drove in one run
- Brown, Sam Foppe, Brenna Foley and Madelyn Holtmeyer each scored one run
- Brown hit one homer
- Abby Alonzo took the loss on the circle. In 3.2 innings pitched, she allowed 13 hits and seven runs.
- Hannah Borgmeyer pitched 1.1 inning. She allowed two hits and four runs.
- The Blue Jays outscored the Griffins, 15-10.
