Griffins Women's Team Ends Up In Third, Men Close Out In Fourth At SLIAC Invite
ELSAH, Ill.—The Fontbonne University track and field teams competed at the SLIAC Invite the last two days and the women’s team ended in third with a school-record 119.50 points, while the men closed out in fourth with 43.50.

On the women's side, Webster took home the victory with 206 points. Greenville, meanwhile, fended off the Griffins with 152.50 points. On the men's side, Greenville cruised to the victory with an impressive 266.50 points. Webster rounded out in second at 200 points, while Principia closed out in third with 75.
On Friday, the quartet of Katie Gosser, Emily Bay, Colleen Gosser and Jaylah Jones competed in the Pentathlon. K. Gosser picked up the conference win with 2,245 points, while Bay (1,903), C. Gosser (1,720) and Jones (1,676), rounded out the rest of the field.
In the first event, K. Gosser set an all-time record in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 11.54. Jones also set a personal-record in the event, finishing in second at 11.94. In the high jump, K. Gosser set another all-time record, clearing 1.36 m for the victory.
Bay (1.28 m) and Jones (1.25 m), also set personal-records, while C. Gosser finished in fourth at 1.22 m. The team then moved on over to the shot put and all four accounted for personal-records. Bay won the event with a mark of 8.86 m, K. Gosser finished in second at 8.72 m, while Jones (8.26 m) and C. Gosser (7.42 m), ended in third and fourth.
In the long jump, K. Gosser accounted for 448 more points as she won with a personal-record of 4.58 m. Bay finished right behind her at 4.12 m, while C. Gosser (4.00 m) and Jones (3.91 m), each set new personal-records.
The four advanced over to the 800-meter run for the final event and K. Gosser picked up the victory with a time of 2:53.24.
On Saturday, highlighting the track events went to the 4x200-meter relay team of Bay, K. Gosser, C. Gosser and Jones as they set an all-time record with a time of 2:01.18 for the win.
In the field events, Sierra Moore broke her own record with a mark of 12.67 m to win by over 1.50 m. in the same event, Mackenze Daniel ended up in second at 9.95 m, while Amelia Tregoning closed out in ninth (8.84 m).
Moore went on to lead them in the weight throw at 11.68 m for fourth place. Daniel tossed a mark of 10.85 m to finish in seventh, while Amelia Tregoning (9.76 m) and Emily Bay (8.76 m), rounded out the rest of the group.
In the 600-meter dash, Kayla Sheldon just missed tying her record as she crossed the line at 1:53.17 for third. C. Gosser timed out at 1:58.73, while Sarah Rhoads ended up in seventh at 2:22.27. Rhoades did set a personal-best time in the 5000-meter run with a time of 23:44.21 for fourth place.
The team of Bay, K. Gosser, C. Gosser and Jones competed in the DMR and earned six points with a third place finish (16:22.21). Meanwhile, in the 4x400-meter relay, the quartet of Bay, C. Gosser, K. Gosser and Jones finished with a top-five time all-time at 4:58.78 for third.
K. Gosser also took part in the 400-meter dash and ended up in fourth at 1:14.39. In the 60-meter dash, meanwhile, Bay set a personal-best at 9.11 for fifth, while Sheldon was right behind her at 9.14 for sixth.
In the high jump, K. Gosser cleared 1.35 m for fourth place, while Bay (1.30 m) and Jones (1.25 m), ended up in sixth and seventh respectively.
C. Gosser closed out in fifth in the pole vault (2.18 m), which is a new all-time record, while K. Gosser finished in fifth as well in the long jump 4.14 m.
The men, though stood out in the 4x200-meter relay as the team of Jacob Dixon, Juwan Lee, Greih Murray and Brian Nguyen finished with a time of 1:53.31 for third. The 4x400-meter relay team of Dixon, Lee, Nguyen and Wilson went on to finish in fourth at 4:23.97.
Lee and Hayden Yates both nearly set personal-records in the 600-meter dash, with Lee finishing in fifth (1:41.42), while Yates ending in sixth (1:46.46).
In the DMR, Dixon, Lee, Nguyen and Wilson earned a final time of 13:56.27 for third. Dixon also competed in the 800-meter dash and finished in sixth at 2:33.48. In the 5000-meter run, Dixon ran his way to a sixth place finish at 19:06.71.
In the field events, Wilson finished tied for fourth at 1.65 m in the high jump. He went on to end in seventh in the long jump (5.35 m), and eighth in the triple jump (10.87 m).
Murray also just missed setting a record in the shot put at 10.44 m for fifth and went on to close out his day in seventh in the weight throw (9.62 m).
